Worrying is a waste of time. It’s like praying for disaster. It’s like paying interest on a debt that may never come due. It’s like a rocking chair; it gives you something to do but it gets you nowhere.
You can choose to believe that you are deserving of good things, that the world is conspiring for your success, that the universe has your back. When you do, you will realize that worrying that something bad might happen is a waste of time.
You can handle anything that comes your way. So even if something unexpected or challenging comes up, you’re equipped to handle it. Already. All you need is within you now. And when you face the challenge, the lessons you learn will inform your future experience. That you face it at all will make your life richer and you stronger.
Things very rarely turn out exactly how we hoped they would. Or rather, they may turn out how we want in the end, but the road is never paved exactly as we might have hoped or expected. As author and television host Dennis Wholey wrote, “Expecting the world to treat you fairly because you are a good person is a little like expecting a bull not to attack you because you are a vegetarian.”
But remember, if you can think it, you can be it. You will get there. Keep going. The moment you give up may be the very instant before you have a breakthrough.
When there’s a bump in the road, it’s not incumbent upon us to figure out why or how it got there. It’s not even our responsibility to figure out how to fix it. We just need to tune in, listen to our intuition, and take the next right action. Take a step into the abyss and the ground will appear.
Worrying is a waste of time.
