In the Astonishing Power of Emotions, by Esther and Jerry Hicks, it’s suggested that we can learn what we do want when we are faced with what we don’t want.  When we are faced with illness, what we desire is wellness.  Whereas before, we might not have been actively desiring wellness, when faced with disease, we know wellness is what we want.


Choose to focus on what you do want.  What does it feel like, sound like, smell like, taste like?  Choose to focus on that thing and all the associated feelings instead of focusing on what you don’t want.  When you focus on what you don’t want, you bind yourself to those feelings.  Anxiety, fear, worry, doubt.  Your body learns to live with those uncomfortable sensations.  And you perpetuate your state of dis-ease.


Let go of that which you no longer want.  Let it go.


Focus on what you do want.  Conjure the feeling of having that thing in the here and now.  Release any attachments you have to the specifics, and just focus on the outcome.  Even if you don’t know how you will get there, live in the innumerable possibilities. Ask for guidance and direction.  Keep your eyes open.  Take a step, and the path will materialize before you.
